Napolitano served in the U.S. Marine Corps for three years, from 1951 to 1954.In an interview published in Mahwah Military Memories, he reported that he chose to enlist before being drafted in the Army to serve in Korea. He recalled that during boot camp, his instructors were harder on those from northern states. He was stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC where he trained as a cook and baker. He transferred to San Diego, CA working at the Marine Corps Recruits Depot. He enjoyed being near the beach and also downtown San Diego. He enjoyed the camaraderie of the Marine Corps and did not serve in active combat.
Biographical Text
Emmanuel J. Napolitano was born in 1931 in Hackensack, NJ, attending Broadway School where he sang in the glee club. He also attended State Street Jr. High, before graduating from Hackensack High School in 1950.
On his return from the Marines, Napolitano married married Marie Ann Caggiano. The couple lived in Teaneck, NJ, and he worked as a butcher for the Grand Union Company in Englewood, NJ. They moved to Mahwah in 1998.

Family Members
Emmanuel J. Napolitano's parents were Salvatore and Gussie Napolitano. He had a sister, Connie. He married Marie Ann Caggiano in 1965.
