Michael Steven Borish was born in Mahwah and attended Mahwah Public School No. 2. His parents were both born in Austria; his father came to the United States from Czechoslovakia at the age of 16. Their family home was located somewhere on Valley Road.
Borish fought in World II, but also worked as a driver for Suffern Distributors in Mahwah and Company No. 2 of Mahwah Fire. In February of 1952, he married Margaret A Michlik, in Ringwood. In the community Borish also participated in the Mahwah VFW, the Mahwah Fire Police, and the Teamsters Union.
