Andrew Megles was born on 1922-09-16 to Michael and Bertha Megles in Mahwah, NJ. He has three older sisters: Anna, Mary, and Eleanor, and one younger brother, Stephen. The Megles family lived on Valley Road. He is a graduate of Ramsey High School and was an employee at DuPont’s Powder Works. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 until his discharge in 1945. Megles married Anne J Stalvaggi on 1951-07-08 in Sloatsburg, NY. The couple had one child: Cyndie.
He worked for American Brake Shoe and Foundry Co., later renamed Abex Corporation, in Mahwah for 40 years before retiring. He was a member of the Mahwah Fire Department. He was active with VFW Post 1124, of which he was a life member and senior vice commander in 1961. He was a member of Memorial Post No. 7124 and served as its junior vice commander in 1988. He was also a member of the Holy Spirit Byzantine Church in Mahwah. Megles was an avid writer to the editors of The Record and The Sunday News. He passed away on 1995-01-25 at the age of 72 from cancer.
