John Ostrowski enlisted into the United States Army on 1942-10-06. He served with the Water Division of the Transportation Corps in Puerto Rico. The Water Division was responsible for: the loading and unloading of transport ships; employment relating to marine worklife; the operation, maintenance, repair, and conversion of transports, harbor boats, piers, docks, and wet storage basins; and marine repair shops. Ostrowski spent 30 months overseas during his military career. He was discharged as a technical sergeant in 1945.

John Peter Ostrowski was born on 1918-06-06 in Mahwah, NJ to Peter and Adela Ostrowski. He had three younger siblings: William, Anne, and Anthony.The Ostrowski family lived on Island Road, Mahwah. Prior to his military service, he worked at Best-Made Hat Co., in Suffern, NY. He enlisted into the Army in 1942. After his discharge, he worked as a shipping department employee at Lederle Laboratories in Pearl River, NY for 33 years. He was also a member of: the Mahwah VFW Post 7124, Knights of Columbus 3962, Rev. Patrick Pindar Council (Ramsey) and Mahwah Senior Citizens. He also collected stamps. He died 1997-02-06. He was 78.
