Military Service Description

Joseph Suleski was drafted and enlisted into the United States Army on 1942-12-01. He completed basic training at Fort Dix, NJ. He was stationed at Camp Breckinridge, KY in 1943. Camp Breckinridge was a training facility with ranges for small arms, hand grenades, and mortars. It also served as a prisoner of war camp for captured German soldiers. Suleski was discharged as a private first class. 

Biographical Text

Joseph William Suleski was born on 1917-05-04 in Mahwah, NJ to Bolesław “William” and Władysława “Lottie” Suleski. He was one of eight children. His older siblings were Stanley and Wanda. His younger siblings were Alexander, Adam, Henry, Stephen, and Anthony. The Suleski’s lived on Railroad Ave, Mahwah. Suleski was employed by American Brake Shoe and Foundry Co. in Mahwah. 

Suleski was drafted and enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1942. In 1943, while stationed at Camp Breckinridge, KY, he became engaged to Anna Warhol. The two married in 1946 and moved to Elmwood Park. The Suleski’s had three daughters: Ann, Arlene, and Sharon. They lived on Lincoln Ave. Suleski was employed as a quality control inspector for Presto Lock Company in Garfield. He worked there from 1946 until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Cathedral in Passaic, NJ. He died on 1996-12-25. He was 79.
