Military Service Description

He served for more than 22 years in the Army Field Artillery, with six years of active service duty in World War II. Pagels service in North Africa, India, Burma and China. While in India he was a member of General Joseph Stillwell's staff, and in Burma, one of Merrill's Marauders. He was assigned a special intelligence mission in China, serving as chief of Psychological Warfare for the China Theatre.

Since 1948, he served in the 78th Jersey Lightning Infantry Division of the Army Reserves, under H. Norman Swartzkopf, In 1946 he was promoted to Brigadier General and Commander of the Division Artillery.

Biographical Text

Edward Pagels was a career military officer, taking officer training at Ohio State University. After his military career, he opened an engineering firm in New York City. He was a member of the Mahwah School Board, The Ramapo Reformed Church, and the Masons and Shriners.

Family Members

He married Alma __. They had four children.
