Military Service Description

Harold Krinsky was drafted and enlisted into the United States Army on 1943-03-09. He completed his basic training in Indiana. In May of 1944, he was sent overseas. Krinsky served as an infantryman with the Ninth Army. The Ninth Army fought primarily in the European Theater. Some of the battles/campaigns the Ninth Army participated in include: the Battle of the Bulge, the Rhineland Campaign, Operation Grenade, and Operation Flashpoint. On 1944-08-19, he was wounded in France. After being discharged from a field hospital in France, he was back on duty away from the front lines. He was discharged from the Army ranked as a Private First Class on 1946-01-12.

Biographical Text

Harold Henry “Wink” Krinsky was born on 1924-10-11 in Florida, New York to couple, John and Elizabeth Krinsky. He was the youngest of 12. His older siblings were: Annie, Mary, Steve, Rose, John, Michael, Elizabeth, Helen, George, Olga, and Joseph. They were members of the Holy Ghost Greek Church, Mahwah. Prior to his military service, he was employed by the Immaculate Conception Seminary in Darlington, NJ.

His military career began with his enlistment into the U.S. Army in 1943 and ended with his discharge in 1946. He worked for Atlantic Upholsterers in Hackensack, NJ as a woodworker. He moved to Hackensack in 1994. He died on 1997-11-09. He was 73.
