Dorathy Pelz enlisted in the Marine Corps with her two sisters on March 14, 1943. She was stationed at The Marine Corps Air Station in Cherry Hill, NC. She reached the rank of Technical Sergeant.

Dorathy Pelz graduated from Ramapo High School and then worked briefly on Wall Street before she joined the Marines in 1943. She married Melvin Blaisdell in 1945 and moved to Long Branch, NJ, where in the 1950s she worked with her husband at a real estate agency called the Norwood Agency. She worked at the Agency with her son, Frank, until 2010. She was an active member of her community, in the Deal Golf and Country Club, and bowling and bridge leagues. She was a founder of the Family and Children's Services of Monmouth County and served on its board of trustees.

She was the daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Charles Pelz.
She married Marine Sergeant Melvin E. Blaisdell in 1945.
Her children were Gayle Blaisdell Williams, L. Frank Blaisdell,

She died at the age of 91 in 2013.
