Edward Francis “Eddie” Maleszewski Sr., was born to John Sr. and Karolina Maleszewski on 1927-04-15 in Ramapo, New York. Maleszewski had six older siblings: Teresa, Chester, Francis, Joseph, Stephen, and John Jr. His younger siblings were: Sophia and Thomas. They lived on Hines Avenue in Mahwah, NJ. Maleszewski, Chester, Francis (KIA), Joseph (KIA), Stephen, and John Jr. were known as the “Fighting Maleszewski’s” because all six served in the military during World War II. The Maleszewski’s, who lived on Hines Avenue in Mahwah, were devout Catholics.
After the war, the Maleszewski family moved to Florida. With his brother Chester, Maleszewski ran "Chuck and Eddie's," a nightclub near Chipley, FL. Edward Maleszewski met Catherine “Teddie” Pippin. Maleszewski was employed with a local Florida propane gas company. Stephen Maleszewski helped Edward buy a hotel located in Destin in the 1970s. The hotel, named the Sun-N-Sand, was run by Edward and his wife until their deaths in 1992 and 1990 respectively. After the deaths of their parents, Maleszewski’s children ran the hotel until its destruction by Hurricane Opal in 1995. He was a member of the Resurrection Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic minister. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Maleszewski died on 1992-03-17 due to illness.
