Joseph Kuzmik enlisted into the United States Navy on 1942-11-12. He joined the USS Francis M. Robinson (DE-220) on 1944-07-05 from New York. While with the USS Francis M. Robinson, Kuzmik helped with aiding submarines in training in New London, CT and completed five convoy escorts to ports in northern Africa. As a torpedoman’s mate third class, Kuzmik was responsible for: the assembly, maintenance, and firing of torpedoes; the handling of warhead explosives; and torpedo guidance mechanisms. He was transferred off the USS Francis M. Robinson on 1945-08-05. Kuzmik was discharged from the Navy on 1946-01-31. 

Joseph Peter Kuzmik was born on 1922-09-14 in Mahwah, NJ. He was the youngest son of Joseph and Natalia Kuzmik. He had five older siblings: Mary, Stella, John, Anna, and Helen. The Kuzmik family lived on Hines Avenue. Kuzmik was employed with DuPont De Nemours & Company, which was located in Pompton Lakes, NJ. He enlisted into the US Navy in 1942. While in the Navy, Kuzmik married Dorothy Gormley in 1945. 

Kuzmik was discharged from the Navy in 1946. Joseph and Dorothy had one son, Joseph. The Kuzmik family lived on State Street, Mahwah. Kuzmik was employed as a mason’s helper in the construction industry. Joseph Kuzmik passed away on 1986-06-02 at the age of 63.
