The Mahwah Museum has started a Veterans Project to build an archive of biographical information on the men and women who served in the military. We have some information on soldiers who served in the Civil War and World War I that we gathered for past exhibits, but hope to document the military service of our town in a more systematic way. To do that we need your help!

We are looking to build an accurate list of the names of Mahwah veterans. If your father, grandfather, great-grandfather or grandmother served in the military and lived in Mahwah, please let us know!

We will then conduct biographical research, looking for obituaries, service records, and photographs. Any help you can provide would be most appreciated. We hope to schedule oral history interviews with living veterans. These need not be in person, but can be via Zoom or telephone, or e-mail/snail mail.

We have set up an e-mail address: veteran-project@mahwahmuseum.org where you can contact us with information and attach files.

If you would like to help out with the project, we can use more hands, especially with interviewing. Contact us at veteran-project@mahwahmuseum.org.
